With less than a month now to go and just
40 results to come in the Newmarket Badminton Federation Leagues, the tables
show the story so far.
During the last month (since the tables
were last reported), a 3˝-2˝ loss to Newmarket B will see St. Phillips’ Ladies
finishing bottom of the First Division and facing the drop for the first time
in many seasons. In the Ladies Second
Division Soham have steamed to third place, but Linton look the safe bet to
swop places with the Saints.
Newmarket Men’s A were obviously keen to
take on current First Division leaders St. Phillips A, turning up three weeks
ahead of schedule, but the Saints were set to play Burwell A that night and had
a point to prove as Burwell had inflicted their only defeat to date. The Saints duly put Burwell in their place
with a resounding 6-0 defeat.
The only news in the Men's Second
Division is that Impington have finally admitted that they are unlikely to
field a team for remaining fixtures so they are conceding any outstanding
matches.
Relegation places have been sorted in the
Mixed Divisions with Con Club in the First and Newmarket B in the Second. Everything else is still up for grabs.
